Event planning and management - Community Conservation Symposium - West Coast
West Coast Penguin Trust

Estimated Time: 20 - 40 Hours Over 1 - 4 Months

West Coast Penguin Trust is presenting a mini conference to support community conservation on the West Coast. We will be bringing speakers to the region that for those working or volunteering in conservation might not otherwise get to hear or to meet with. It will provide a networking opportunity, connecting up those involved with each other and with experts and those who can help. There will be a one day conference on 14th June at the Tai Poutini Polytechnic in Greymouth followed by field trips on 15th June. We are seeking an event planner who can assist with the practicalities of organizing a conference who can commit regularly. If you are organised and keen on making a difference to conservation work on the West Coast this is for you!

Working location

Virtual. The event will take place in Greymouth but volunteering can be remote and connected by phone, email or skype etc, or in person. Very flexible to accommodate any help you are able to offer.

Proposed project steps with time estimates

1) Initial discussion and briefing (1 hour)
2-3 hours per week and tasks would be as follows
2) Review planning and update
2) Share /delegate various tasks /action plan
3) Maintain profile, ticket sales and event planning
4) Set up systems and information sharing for the event

We anticipate that your commitment would be a few hours a week with potentially extra hours in the run up to the conference. Any help would be appreciated even if shorter term.

You are welcome to attend the conference on 14 June 2018 and or field trips on 15 June

Mission
To conserve and enhance penguins and other seabirds on the West Coast.
What we Do
Established in 2006, our aim is to conserve the blue penguins, Fiordland crested penguins, other threatened seabirds and their habitat on the West Coast. We raise funds, conduct research and implement practical projects relating to penguins in particular, as well as to other seabirds subject to similar threats. We have a strong education, awareness and advocacy programme and we are well regarded in the region. A vimeo link introducing the Trust is here: https://vimeo.com/channels/917211/127557962
