OKE Charity

Estimated Time: 20 - 40 Hours Over 2 - 3 Months

The OKE Social Superstar has a pretty fundamental role to play in promoting the OKE Head2Head Walk (#H2HWalk), which is the annual fundraiser for the OKE Charity. The #H2HWalk takes in a 125km route around the Manukau Harbour from Awhitu Peninsula to Huia in the Waitakere Ranges, split into a relay of five 25km legs over 24 hours. Since its inception in 2012, the fundraiser has raised over $55,000. The OKE Squad need support managing the event and especially help with promoting the event through the OKE social media channels. This years event will take place on the 11th/12th November. Social media support is needed to highlight the recruitment of teams to register and then to promote the event in the run up. During the weekend of the actual walk, social media support is needed. We are seeking your superstar skills to some up with a social media plan for this event and run the social media channels until the event.

What we Do
OKE provide kiwi kids the opportunity to learn life and social skills by introducing productive gardens into schools. By giving the kids the tools to learn, OKE are empowering schools and communities to grow essential life and social skills, ultimately providing a better place for everyone. OKE plans on implementing our “Growing A Future” initiative into schools up and down New Zealand. Our starting point is Papatoetoe, Auckland, with ten primary/intermediate schools identified to get growing by 2018. Through Growing A Future, OKE deliver a garden to each school, enabling the kids, teachers and local community to get growing together. OKE kick off this initiative with a Working Bee, building everything required to make the garden sustainable; raised beds, greenhouse, composting solutions, kids tools, teacher tools etc. Each Growing a Future project for a school costs $10,000 to put together from start to finish…at no cost to the school!!
