COMET Auckland - Te Hononga Akoranga

Estimated Time: 10 - 30 Hours Over 2 - 3 Weeks

We need a volunteer(s) with great writing skills to help us write up 12 stories for a showcase report on SouthSci funded science projects. SouthSci is a participatory science platform in South Auckland. It is a new way of connecting schools and communities with science by supporting them to develop research projects around questions that matter to them. These stories will form part of a report for the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment to showcase projects SouthSci has funded. The report will be printed hardcopy, and is valuable to the continuous work of SouthSci. Your skill in story telling and capturing the impact of these projects in communities and schools across South Auckland will be invaluable. We are happy to work with more than one volunteer. We would like this project completed by beginning of November. Our vision is for all South Auckland children to be leaders in STEM education & innovation.  (STEM - science, technology, engineering and mathematics.)

Working location

We are based in Auckland but volunteers can be from anywhere as the work can be done remotely. If you are Auckland based you are welcome to work from our office. COMET Auckland - SouthSci initiative , Level 5, 55 Anzac Ave, Auckland City

Proposed project steps with time estimates

-Brief on projects (30 min to 1 hour)
Comet have already collated much of the information on each of the 12 projects but the volunteer may need to contact schools who participated, for clarification or a quote. Information and images given to volunteer.

-Phone calls, reading the information and write up of one story (1-2 hours)

For an experienced writer we anticipate that each story would take no more than 2 hours to write up (150-200 words)

Two- three week project
Week one: 6 stories to be completed (150- - 200 words for each showcase story)
Week two: 6 stories to be completed (150 - 200 words for each showcase story)
OR
Week one: 4 stories to be completed (150- - 200 words for each showcase story)
