Mission
Our organisational vision is to support our members with neuromuscular conditions and their whānau to live their lives with 'freedom beyond limits'. We walk alongside our members to empower and provide life enhancing resources that positively impact lives.
What we Do
MDA Central is a ‘by members, for members’ organisation that has almost 600 members across the central and lower North Island. We are part of a nationally recognised Disabled Persons’ Organisation (DPO). We are led by and advocate for people living with neuromuscular conditions in Aotearoa New Zealand. These conditions (with onset usually in childhood) primarily result in muscle wasting and both significant and complex care needs. Living with the progressive decline in strength is a constant challenge for our members and their loved ones in terms of mobility, social inclusion and independent living. But despite life's challenges we are passionate about doing collective good, making the most of opportunities in life, and having fun together along the way.
