What we Do
YSAR utilises skilled volunteers from our community to mentor and develop Rangatahi. Encouraging all genders and ethnicities to volunteer in their communities, who are fit, skilled and passionate about the outdoors environment. YSAR Provides adventure-based learning, and environmental education to instruct Search and Rescue techniques of LandSAR, Coastguard, outdoor first aid, survival skills etc. YSAR encourages and highly values – STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Our Rangatahi learn with positivity, friendship, teamwork, identity, leadership, community with good habits for a lifelong love of activity to keep them at the level of fitness required to be a search and rescue volunteer. Students blossom into fantastic young adults who want to volunteer to keep their families, and communities safer.
