what we need. Are you a good bitch* in every sense of the word – thoughtful, collaborative, energetic, proactive, and most importantly, keen on the idea of working for an organisation that exists to spread kindness? Do you love listening to people discuss things and take pride in distilling that discussion to crystal clear points that are easily understood by anyone who reads them later? Are you an organiser? Great at keeping people on track with deadlines? A meticulous file manager? Yes? Great, sounds like you’re the person we’re looking for to be our Board Secretary. *To us, calling someone a good bitch is high praise. It packs a whole lot more punch than “you’re a nice person” and it implies action, hard work and even humility. Put simply, a good bitch is someone who just goes about getting stuff done, no mucking around. what you’ll do.

what we do.

Good Bitches Baking (GBB) is a nationwide organisation that spreads kindness in the community through the mechanism of baking. We have about 2700 Good Bitches in 30 chapters who bake treats in their own kitchens for people having a tough time.

BUT we have a lot more kindness to give. We’re looking at new ways we can enable small doable acts of kindness that will contribute to healthy, resilient, compassionate communities.

Because we’re so comfortably established now and settling into a growth period, there’s a lot required to keep the ovens on and the beaters beating. We want to maximise the opportunity to promote more kindness in our communities, but also ensure that the ‘moment of happiness’ doesn’t become unmanageable for our recipients or stop being fun for our volunteers, and that everyone has a consistently excellent experience when they come into contact with GBB.

Our dream is that all people in Aotearoa New Zealand who are having a tough time feel supported and valued, whatever their circumstances.
What we Do
Good Bitches Baking is a nationwide for-purpose organisation  - we’re all about spreading kindness one treat at a time… We have 30 chapters from Whangārei to Invercargill, with 3,100+ volunteers baking delicious treats to deliver to 400+ organisations that support people having a tough time. Alongside our Baking it Better programme, we have  Prison Bake, Business Bitching and Collaborative Bitching and we commissioned a fantastic research report into whether and how community sector organisations use ‘kindness’ as an active intervention in different contexts.  There’s lots of info about what we do and what we care about on our website - www.gbb.org.nz.
