We are looking for a volunteer superstar for StarJam! We run music, dance and singing workshops for people from 6 to 25 with disabilities. The age range is presently being reviewed and is likely to increase in 2024. We are looking for someone who is available for 30 weeks of the year. School terms only and for 3 or 4 other occasions yet to be arranged. The young people attend discos, provide gigs and are part of the wider music community and need to be supported to attend these. You are not required to transport the young people. We need 3 to 4 volunteers in each workshop to ensure the young people are safe and assisted to learn the dances, songs etc and be accompanied if they need to use bathroom facilities. However you are not required to physically assist in these actions. These current vacancies are in New Plymouth and Bell Block, but workshops are available in other areas around New Zealand as well.

Working location

New Plymouth or Bell Block Between the times of 6.15pm and 8.15pm on Monday or Tuesday each week of school term

Proposed project steps with time estimates

Before volunteering can begin, there are police vetting procedures, interview and orientation, reference checks.
Once these are successfully completed you attend a workshop and join in. There is ongoing support through the tutor of the workshop, other volunteers and the coordinator. There is also support through the national office if required.
