It Takes a Village Hub,(NZ) is a registered charity that provides essential items to families in the Canterbury region who are struggling, we do this through our baby and toddler bundle program. To provide the essentials we do to families who are struggling we rely on donations from the community and sadly sometimes we don't have enough donations to cover the items we need for the bundles. Last year an idea was hatched and we were able to run our first ever sewing bee over 1 night for 3 weeks in a row, this year we have received funding to allow us to do it again. It will be held in Kaiapoi for 3-4 weeks once a week in the evening. We need people to sew and prep before and on the nights and well as some people to co-ordinate the event.
Working location
It will held at a local Kaiapoi school and in the evening for 2-3 hours over 3-4 weeks, there will so be prep work before the event itself. We hope to run this in April/May
Proposed project steps with time estimates
Step one: Meet with volunteers to discuss the timeline and prep work needed before hand
Step two: Prep work given out before the first sewing bee.
Step Three: Attend Sewing bee in evening for 1 night for 3-4 weeks and make tops and pants for families in need.
What We Have In Place
We have spoken to a Kaiapoi school that will host us but still need to confirm dates.
There are funds available to purchase sewing material and other needs.
We have some patterns and left over material from last year to make items.

To provide support, resources and service that is free from judgement, within a safe, respectful and understanding environment, to the best of our ability, to members of the Canterbury regions.
What we Do
"It Takes a Village Hub (NZ)" is a registered charity based in Canterbury. We provide baby and toddler bundles to families that need a little extra help, for whatever reason in the Canterbury region. The bundles are free to families that apply - there is no means testing or judgement, we are here to help where we can.
Baby Bundles launched in 2018, and toddler bundles in 2019 - to date we have provided over 1000 bundles to families in Canterbury, and as the need keeps growing, so do we. We believe that by helping each other we are helping our community to foster the old saying that it takes a village to raise a child, and we are proud and honored to have been able to support the families that come to us.
