We are seeking experienced and passionate Tikanga Lore Advisors. Key Responsibilities: 1. Cultural Guidance. 2 Policy Development 3. Training and Education. 4. Consultation 5. Documentation and Reporting. 6. Advocacy Representation Skills Required: Cultural Expertise: In-depth knowledge of tikanga Māori, including its historical, social, and spiritual dimensions. Demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge in practical and contemporary settings. Experience: Significant experience in a cultural advisory role, particularly within Māori or indigenous contexts. Experience with policy development and organizational consulting is highly desirable Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to articulate cultural concepts and practices clearly to diverse audiences, including non-Māori stakeholders. Skilled in both written and verbal communication - Deep understanding of the cultural history of NZ. - Te Reo Maori language is advantageous. - Deep understanding of Maori history & Tikanga

Working location

Northland. This is a remote-only volunteer position with flexible hours.

Proposed project steps with time estimates

The Tikanga Maori Lore Advisor role is voluntary and remote therefore the hours are flexible.

Proposed Project Steps:
1. Guide integrating Tikanga Māori into organizational policies and decision-making processes."

2. Engage in regular consultations with the leadership team to ensure that Tikanga Māori principles are woven into all levels of organizational policies, decision-making, and strategic planning.

This includes offering specific advice on how to incorporate Māori values such as manaakitanga (hospitality), kaitiakitanga (guardianship), and rangatiratanga (self-determination) into the organization's daily operations.

3. Additionally, Tikanga Māori Advisors should facilitate ongoing cultural competency training for staff, promote the use of te reo Māori, and ensure that the organization's practices are aligned with Māori customs and traditions.

4. This role also includes acting as a liaison between the organization and Māori communities to ensure their perspectives are respected and upheld in all activities.
