JustSpeak

Estimated Time: 5 - 8 Hours Over 1 - 2 Days

JustSpeak is hoping to launch a new new operational strategy in 2018 which will help us recruit more volunteers and get them more involved in setting our agenda and contributing to our work. We have two related issues/projects. The first is that our current website is difficult to use/update and probably needs to be overhauled and replaced with something more user-friendly with better design. The second is that we'd like to develop an online portal that would allow volunteers to log in and get involved in the projects we run by signing up to different 'streams' of work. Ideally we can tackle both of these issues by combining the current functions of the website with a new focus on managing projects and volunteers.

Working location

Preferably Wellington but would consider working virtually too

Proposed project steps with time estimates

Brief and introduction to the organisation (1 hour)
Overview of the project goals, potential hurdles w JustSpeak staff (1 hr)
Brainstorm session on options for the new site and portal (1-2 hr)
Project plan write up (1-2 hr)
Feedback to JustSpeak (1 hr)

What we're looking for is someone or a team of people to help us build a strategy for how this new website might look, what work would be involved and what it would cost. We estimate that depending on the number of people involved, this might be a half to one day's work.

What We Have In Place

We are trialling an initial version of the portal using Trello and Slack. Depending on when this project kicks off we may be able to provide some initial feedback from how that has worked so far.

Mission
We believe in a safe, just and inclusive society. This means ending targeted criminalisation of Māori, working toward decarceration and building flourishing communities.
What we Do
We work on systemic, transformative change in the area of criminal justice. We undertake research to provide evidence-based solutions to working toward this change and are driven by volunteers to support this kaupapa. We amplify the voices of those most affected by criminal justice by providing these platforms through events, volunteer opportunities and other projects to highlight the issues.
