It Takes a Village Hub, (NZ) is a Canterbury based charity that provide essential items for families with 5 year olds and under, we do this through our baby and toddler bundle program. We are a sustainable charity and would love to go further on our sustainability journey by reducing the amount of paper we use as we help between 70-100 families per month. We would love to be able to take our program paperless through an app that allows us to easily: - Easily read what our clients need from their online form - Allows status updates to be sent to clients - Sending and signing receipts
Working location
happy for volunteers to work from home on person computer or in our New Brighton office, we are flexible with times of days and hours, we are happy to work around what suits the volunteer.
Proposed project steps with time estimates
Step one: Meet with potential volunteers to gain scope of what It Takes a Village Hub, (NZ) needs and what will be able to work.
Step two: Create a mock plan on what it the app would look like and how it would work.
Step three: Creation of the app with check ins at different stages to see progress.
Step four: Training on how to use app once complete.
What We Have In Place
We currently have in place:
- Our 3 forms are currently in Microsoft forms
- We use a spreadsheet of the form people fill out and then copy them onto a hardcopy pick sheet and then people sign this.
- We message people via text to allow them to know when bundles are ready.

To provide support, resources and service that is free from judgement, within a safe, respectful and understanding environment, to the best of our ability, to members of the Canterbury regions.
What we Do
"It Takes a Village Hub (NZ)" is a registered charity based in Canterbury. We provide baby and toddler bundles to families that need a little extra help, for whatever reason in the Canterbury region. The bundles are free to families that apply - there is no means testing or judgement, we are here to help where we can.
Baby Bundles launched in 2018, and toddler bundles in 2019 - to date we have provided over 1000 bundles to families in Canterbury, and as the need keeps growing, so do we. We believe that by helping each other we are helping our community to foster the old saying that it takes a village to raise a child, and we are proud and honored to have been able to support the families that come to us.
We couldn't do this without the generous support of local and NZ businesses, the members of our It Takes A Village Facebook groups, and the many volunteers in the background.
