Urgent - Techfugees Hackathon
Techfugees NZ

Estimated Time: 8 - 16 Hours Over 1 - 2 Days

Our Techfugees Hackathon on 25-26 May is looking to bring together devs, designers, former refugees with lived experience, and problem solvers to tackle the issues former refugees have on entering and settling in Aotearoa. As part of the worldwide Techfugees movement empowering displaced people with technology, our NZ team are looking to not only create (or build upon) apps to solve real world hurdles for former refugees but also connect them to the community ensuring NZ is utilising all of its skill base. Over two days, participants will work in teams to create solutions to help with the refugee journey and settlement, and work together to build community. Our first New Zealand event will connect refugee background and tech communities, and empower attendees with technology, guidance and mentoring. There will be roving mentors to help the participants. We are looking for developers, designer, mentors or anyone from tech communities and general event helpers.
